A child care center in Richwood is stepping up to help after the Nicholas County Board of Education voted to abruptly close Cherry River Elementary last week following reports of health and safety issues within the building. The school will be closed for the rest of the year, and students will begin attending Panther Creek Elementary in Nettie on Friday, October 18, to give staff time to move. Eyewitness News said Tots to Teens Child Development Center has become an emergency drop off center, even for families not currently enrolled at the center. They are open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and they are on the bus route.
