Community chips in to help after St. Albans soccer teams lose equipment in fire

A fire broke out at Crawford Field’s ticket booth causing damage to the Saint Albans soccer program’s equipment last Friday night. Girl’s soccer coach Lara England told Eyewitness News that the soccer program keeps their equipment in the ticket booth. Boy’s coach Marc Adkins who noted that there was nothing salvagable. The Saint Albans Red and Black Foundation immediately stepped in to help, creating a GoFundMe page to try and raise money for new equipment. Their original goal of $6,000 was reached in about 12 hours, covering the costs of balls, cones and other equipment. Other schools and businesses have offered to help out too. They hope to start restocking their equipment as soon as possible.
