One person is arrested after a man is found with a gunshot wound to the stomach

One person was arrested after a man was found with fatal gunshot wounds by state police early Sunday morning in Logan County. Officers responded to a single vehicle crash just after 3 a.m. along West Virginia Route 17 in the Ethel area. While en route, they were informed the driver, Walter Webster Elmore, had a gunshot wound in the stomach, according to West Virginia State Police. Elmore was taken to the Logan Regional Medical Center and was later pronounced dead. The investigation led to 23-year-old Darius James Stanton as a suspect, and he was later arrested after a traffic stop along Pond Fork Road in Boone County. Eyewitness News said he’s being held at Southwestern Regional Jail. The investigation is continuing.
