PEIA draft for the next fiscal year shows a premium increase

West Virginia’s Public Employees Insurance Agency Finance Board met this week and reviewed an initial draft for the 2026 fiscal year. Eyewitness News said the proposal outlines plan changes and suggests increasing premiums for a third time since March 2023. Aside from premiums, the board has proposed an increase in spousal surcharges, copays and deductibles. In December 2023, a 10.5% premium hike was OK’d by the board months after a 24.2% increase was approved. The PEIA Finance Board will meet again on Oct. 24 to release the plan and crease a list of public hearing dates.
