Road crews prep for winter months

The West Virginia Division of Highways is prepared for the winter months ahead.
Dry runs for snow removal and ice control are happening across the state as garages check equipment and gather supplies, according to a news release from the Department of Transportation. More than 1,000 snowplows will be used to maintain West Virginia roadways with a stockpile of more than 230,000 tons of salt. Interstates remain a first priority when crews are clearing roadways, then school bus routes, other remaining routes, and then park and forest routes. Road crews remind drivers to slow down when traveling in snowy or icy conditions and give snowplows extra room to operate.
