WVU’s defensive coordinator is replaced during the team’s bye week

There’s been a change with West Virginia football’s coaching staff. The Mountaineers have parted ways with defensive coordinator Jordan Lesley, and special teams coordinator and inside linebackers coach Jeff Koonz will assume Lesley’s duties, according to a statement from the program. Lesley was hired at West Virginia in 2019 as a defensive line coach. He was promoted to co-defensive coordinator in 2020 and has served as the sole defensive coordinator since 2021. West Virginia has a bye week this weekend before it squares off with old foe Cincinnati in Ohio at noon on Nov. 9.
