A new veteran’s cemetery comes to Eastern Kentucky

On Veterans Day Monday, a new veterans cemetery was dedicated in Floyd County. The area is called the “Willard Kinzer Veterans Cemetery”, located in the Allen area. Organizers believe it’s the first veterans cemetery in Eastern Kentucky. It will start out with 3 acres and more than 600 available plots. Eyewitness News said it was a three-year project and the county will pay for the upkeep of the area. Not only will veterans be buried here but spouses will be buried here as well, all at no cost to the family. The total area for this veteran’s cemetery is 50 acres, meaning there is room for expansion and there’s room to add additional plots as needed.
