The WVU Cancer Institute has spent about $2 million of the $50 million allocated by the West Virginia Legislature last year to fund becoming the 73rd National Cancer Institute-designated center in the nation. Albert Wright, president and CEO of the WVU Health System said “We’re going slow – we’ve spent about $2 million of the $50 million so far,” he said. “We have $13 million allocated and we’re going out and we’re targeting researchers that are going be funded researchers and the best physicians and scientists in the country.”
