Details announced for Downtown Charleston’s Christmas festival

Downtown Charleston will once again host a tree-lighting ceremony and Holly Jolly Brawley, the capital city’s annual Christmas festival. At this year’s Holly Jolly Brawley, organizers are planning an art walk, live music, vending and more than 150 decorated trees along with visits from Santa Claus. It will happen Nov. 29-30 from noon to 8 p.m. Festivities officially kick off Friday, Nov. 29 at Slack Plaza. An awards presentation for tree decorating is set for 5:45 p.m. and a drone show will start at 6:15 p.m. The tree lighting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., according to a news release from the city.

Quarrier Street will be blocked from Summers to Court Street and Laidley Street will be impacted from Lee to Virginia Street. There will be additional street closures beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 through 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2.
