West Virginia University Thomas Hospitals plans to open up a new orthopedic hospital next year. Representatives from WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals joined Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin this week at the new orthopedic hospital, which is inside St. Francis Hospital on Laidley Street. St. Francis has a goal of becoming the Mountain State’s first full-service and comprehensive orthopedic hospital. The first surgeries at the new hospital are scheduled for January 9, and a grand opening will happen in the spring.
