Report reveals an unsupported roof contributed to miner’s death

Federal investigators have released their findings in the death of a miner in West Virginia earlier this year. 33-year old Gary Chapman of South Williamson, Kentucky, was killed after a rock from a roof struck him while he was under an unsupported roof, according to a Mine Safety and Health Administration. It happened on Sept. 6 at Mountaineer II Mine near Sharples. Chapman is the fourth miner to die in West Virginia this year.
