SBA funds will help build new schools

The West Virginia School Building Authority approved $65 million in funding Tuesday, with four counties looking ahead to the construction of new schools. Putnam County will use $8.3 million to build a new Hurricane Middle School. The SBA pledged to earmark the same amount for three consecutive years, posting a total of $25 million for the project. Eyewitness News reported that the SBA made another three-year commitment to Kanawha County with $6.7 million going to Upper Kanawha Valley Elementary School. Over the years, the SBA will budget $20.3 million for the new school. Eight counties will receive funding for improvements of existing facilities, according to the SBA.
