Suspect in a police chase that snarled traffic pleads not guilty

A man accused of leading law enforcement on a multi-state chase that ended in Charleston pleaded not guilty yesterday. Jeremiah Gray of Blue Ridge, Georgia, is accused of leading law enforcement on a chase that began in Jackson County, Ohio, after he was accused of walking around a Walmart with body armor, a badge and a gun in July. Gray pleaded not guilty to several charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, fleeing with reckless indifference, obstructing an officer and persons prohibited from committing a violent crime during a court appearance Wednesday. The chase from Ohio eventually crossed into West Virginia reaching speeds of more than 100 mph, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. The vehicle’s front right tire eventually became disabled and the vehicle came to a stop near the Interstate 64/77 split in Charleston.
