Gov. Justice reflects on his time in office

Gov. Jim Justice delivered a farewell address to the West Virginia Legislature this week, reflecting on his two terms in office and looking ahead to his time in the U.S. Senate. Eyewitness News said Justice recalled his first year in office with a budgetary shortfall totaling nine digits, and after that kept a flat budget. Justice referred to his Road to Prosperity program as a major turning point and a method for the state to increase revenue. He also recounted 27 tax cuts under his watch and encouraged lawmakers to continue that effort to increase state’s population. Attorney General Patrick Morrisey will take the reins on Jan. 13 as he is sworn in as West Virginia’s next governor.
