Plans are in the works to ease congestion near Nitro’s Pilot Travel Center

The Pilot Travel Center in Nitro sees a constant flow of traffic which causes congestion in the lot, making drivers unable to turn around. This not only affects truck drivers and travelers, but locals making their daily commutes. Putnam County Sheriff Bobby Eggleton told Eyewitness News they’re putting a sign up on the interstate and it will say that the traffic has congested and it tells the drivers that they can’t get into the Pilot station. They’ll be held back, and they’re hoping that will solve some of the problems there. It’s a short term fix. Pilot released a statement saying company officials are working alongside state departments to address the issues.
