Investigators are asking for the public’s help in an investigation into a fire that destroyed a historic Raceland, Kentucky landmark. An “unknown loud vehicle” was in the area of the original Jockey House at the former Raceland horse track shortly before it caught fire on Jan. 2, according to the Flatwoods Police Department. The vehicle was also believed to be in the area of Highland Avenue in Wurtland, Ky. Eyewitness News said police are asking anyone with security cameras in that area, as well as Greenup Avenue, to check their camera footage around that time. The former race track, which was known as the Million Dollar Oval, started in 1924. The Jockey House was destroyed in the blaze. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to Raceland Police Department Detective Brett Ritchie at 606-836-8189 or 606-465-4185.
