CAMC is facing a lawsuit for a recent data breach

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Charleston Area Medical Center after the medical network announced a phishing attack may have leaked access to patients’ personal information. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court, claiming “a major data breach” exposed sensitive information for more than 67,000 individuals.” Names, birthdays, contact information, social security numbers and health records may have been exposed. Complainants said they were informed of the breach on Feb. 14, more than four months after the phishing attack occurred.
