A Logan County physician was found guilty of drug crimes following a four-day trial after he was convicted of over prescribing controlled substances, court records said. Brian McDevitt, 61, of Chapmanville was found guilty by a federal jury after he wrote prescriptions of hydrocodone, an opioid, on May 17, 2022 and March 29, 2024 and depressant, or Xanax, on May 18, 2022 and March 29, 2024, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of West Virginia.
