In Mingo County, the Chattaroy Volunteer Fire Department has been shut down after the department’s chief resigned. Mingo County Emergency Management said the department had to be immediately shut down after the resignation of the chief and they are temporarily unable to respond to emergency calls. Eyewitness News reported they are working with the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office to address the issue and restore operations as quickly as possible. The agency also said the Williamson, Delbarton, Lenore and Matewan Fire Departments are helping provide emergency fire services to the area until the issue is resolved.
