A landslide in flood-ravaged southern West Virginia has raised structural concerns for a public school in Mingo County. On Tuesday, a landslide occurred behind Kermit Pre-K to 8 along the length of the gymnasium, according to a social media post from the Mingo County Board of Education.The post said engineers will assess damage and determine the safety of the building this week to see if school operations will be affected. The school system has asked employees to avoid the property until the damage assessment has been completed. School and state officials are working to request federal assistance for flood victims in the area.
