Trial is set for later this spring for the second suspect in tobacco shop shooting

A 15-year-old boy being tried as an adult in the murder of a Charleston tobacco shop worker will now go to trial in May. Barack Howard Williams previously pleaded not guilty to first-degree robbery and felony murder in the Jan. 30 shooting death of 19-year-old Caden Martin. Williams was 14 years old at the time of the shooting. Williams was charged in the case along with Bre’juan Williams-Hampton, who has already been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years. Williams had been set for trial on Monday, but Eyewitness News reported he rejected a plea deal. A new trial date has been set for May 12.
