A Pratt man will serve prison time for meth distribution

A Kanawha County man who sold pounds of illegal drugs to a confidential informant was sentenced to prison Tuesday. Jonathan Fitzpatrick of Pratt was sentenced to 16 years and two months in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release time for the distribution of methamphetamine, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.

On June 3, 2024, Fitzpatrick sold about 10 pounds of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Kanawha City, according to Eyewitness News. Prosecutors said Fitzpatrick admitted to that transaction, along with the distribution of approximately 90 pounds of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine to the informant over the span of about two years. Prosecutors credited the Drug Enforcement Administration and West Virginia State Police along with deputies from Boone, Logan and Mingo County for investigating.
