The City of Charleston holds 5.2 million dollars in settlement funds from opioid lawsuits, and Eyewitness News reported about half a million of that money has been spent so far. Community leaders came together Wednesday for a town hall to talk about ways the money could help Charleston grow. First responders, prevention, re-entry, treatment, harm reduction, transportation and process were the seven breakout groups formed. Groups discussed the need for transitional housing, prevention in schools, a low barrier shelter, and more help for those looking to get back into the workforce. Event organizers said this is just the beginning of the discussion.
