Cherry blossoms around West Virginia are close to peaking

The Cherry Blossom trees have reached stage 5 and are a step closer to peak bloom along the Tidal Basin, according to the National Park Service. Stage 5, also known as the Puffy Blossoms phase, is a stage away from peak bloom. Eyewitness News said on average, cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin reach peak bloom between late March and early April, though the exact timing depends on weather conditions. Last year, the cherry blossoms reached peak bloom on March 17.
