Huntington city council members approved a contentious amended budget Monday night after hours of public comment, debate and amendment proposals. Eyewitness News reported council members voted in favor of a budget amendment that would move $50,000 from the city’s proposed funds for the jail bill to the Huntington Cabell-Wayne Animal Shelter, making its total funding for the fiscal year $250,000 instead of the original $200,000. Funding was completely cut for the Huntington City Mission’s overnight shelter. The amended budget will go into effect July 1.
