IRS offer extension for WVA taxpayers impacted by storms and floods

The Internal Revenue Service has announced an extension for taxpayers in West Virginia who were impacted by the severe flooding in February. According to a news release from the IRS, individuals and businesses in Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Wayne and Wyoming counties impacted by severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides that began on Feb. 15 will now have until Nov. 3 to file tax returns and make payments. Additionally, contributions to IRAs, health savings accounts, quarterly payroll taxes, and several business payments and returns are eligible for the extension. The IRS automatically identifies taxpayers in the area and those outside of the covered counties can contact the agency by calling 866-562-5227.
