The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating a historic promotion, naming its first female chief of detectives. Lt. Ana Pile was promoted to the position after serving the sheriff’s office for 20 years. Her experience has included time as a patrol deputy and assignments within the criminal investigation section. Pile was later appointed to assist the chief of detectives and earned a master’s degree. Sheriff Joe Crawford and Chief Deputy Sean Snuffer released a statement saying Pile is a respected member of the force and it was an effortless decision.
