Mountwest Community and Technical College held a completion ceremony this week for an apprenticeship readiness program. Seven students were recognized for completing the nine-week program that taught basic construction skills. Students completed forklift training, learned about power and hand tools and received instruction on reading blueprints. Classes were taught in partnership with CJ Hughes Construction. The free program provided a $1,500 stipend. Eyewitness News said Mountwest plans to start a summer cohort in Mason County. A $500,000 grant from Lowe’s paid for the program.
