MSHA issues its final report on Taylor County mine fatality

The Mine Safety and Health Administration issued its final report this week on a fatal mining accident that happened last September in Taylor County. 34-year-old Colton Walls, of Bruceton Mills, was seriously injured at the Leer Mine near Grafton while advancing longwall shields. He died a few days later. The report said that the accident happened because Leer Mine did not have adequate written instruction or training for advancing longwall shields. The mine has made changes since the accident.
