New technology hub opens at Marshall University

Marshall University announced a partnership with a financial technology company that is expected to provide employment opportunities for students and graduates. An Intuit Prosperity Hub is coming to the Brad D. Smith Center for Innovation and Business, but will find a permanent home along Fourth Avenue between the business college and cybersecurity center. Smith, Marshall’s current president, formerly served as Intuit’s CEO and executive chair. The hub is expected to generate about 250 jobs, both part-time and full-time, with wages starting at $18 per hour for positions involving bookkeeping, taxes and artificial intelligence. Dozens of students are expected to start work at the hub over the next few weeks and university officials hope to ramp up that number next year.
