Sissonville couple whose children were found locked in a barn learn their sentences

The Sissonville couple convicted on nearly every charge in an historic child abuse, forced labor, and human trafficking case learned their sentence on Wednesday. Donald Lantz and Jeanne Whitefeather were denied a motion for a new trial before Judge Maryclaire Akers, who condemned the couple for their lack of remorse, according to Eyewitness News. Akers sentenced both to the maximum on all charges, to be served consecutively. Whitefeather will spend 40 to 215 years in prison, while Lantz will spend 30 to 160 years behind bars. The siblings testified about their mistreatment during a two-week trial in January.
