Huntington Police said a man died following an officer-involved shooting on Saturday night. According to a news release from Huntington Police, an officer tried to pull over a driver in the area of 22nd Street and Fifth Avenue and instead of stopping, the driver took off and hit another driver in the process, as they were crossing the bridge into Guyandotte. The pursuit eventually reached the 3300 Block of Fifth Avenue and it was there that things escalated to the point that an officer fired rounds into the suspect’s vehicle, hitting the driver. He died at the hospital. The incident is under investigation by HPD and West Virginia State Police and the case will be forwarded to the Cabell County Prosecutor’s Office.
