A Wood County is arrested on charges related to a 2024 crash

A Wood County man was arrested Sunday in connection to a deadly 2024 crash. 40-year old Ernest Vandal of Walker has been charged with DUI causing death, according to a news release from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. The news release said deputies began an investigation in November of last year following a wreck along the Staunton Turnpike in Walker, West Virginia. Deputies said Walker drove left of center, striking another vehicle and killing the driver, identified as David Butcher, of Parkersburg. Eyewitness News said a blood test indicated Vandal was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
