Community rallies to help the Huntington animal shelter amid budget cuts

With a recent cut to the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter’s funding in the latest City of Huntington budget, Eyewitness News said many local businesses are gathering donations to help out the shelter during this uncertain time. Co-owner of Full Circle Gifts and Goods Noelle Horsfield said that with the support of their customers they raised $1,000, donating $500 of their own money and a car full of supplies. The shelter’s budget was $400,000 last year in the City of Huntington’s budget, and in the new budget passed last month, it will now only receive $250,000 for the year. The Haute Wick Social Candle Bar will be donating 20 percent of its sales last weekend to the shelter.
