Nearly 200 workers at a federal Occupational Safety and Health location in West Virginia are being laid off. An expected 185 of the roughly 500 workers at The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in Morgantown are expected to be laid off effective June 30, according to a WV MetroNews report. Employees were told the action is being taken in connection with an executive order from President Donald Trump. The cuts are among an expected 10,000 staff reductions expected across the Department of Health and Human Services as the federal government looks to reorganize and consolidate the agency. The NIOSH building has operated in Morgantown for more than 50 years.
