Gov Morrisey plans to appeal FEMA’s denial of help for WVA counties

Gov. Patrick Morrisey issued a statement Tuesday night following Federal Emergency Management Agency’s denial of individual and public assistance to seven West Virginia counties following deadly February flooding. FEMA denied the state’s request for Individual Assistance due to not meeting the qualifications, according to Media relations specialist Erika O’Sullivan. She explained that while there have been impacts in some counties, every county is different, and it all has to meet a certain level,” O’Sullivan said Mingo County was one of the most impacted areas and has seen 880 people visit its FEMA center.
