The Kanawha County Commission approved $12,000 for a study aimed at finding possible housing development sites to share with developers to show that Kanawha County is a good location to build new homes. Areas like Putnam and Kanawha counties are being hit especially hard with no room to build and not enough builders. Megan Callaghan Bailey, a licensed realtor, said “We currently have about 220 active listings in Kanawha County with a lot of buyers moving to the area,”. These potential home buyers are stuck in a waiting period. This study will have a primary focus in the eastern part of Kanawha County in areas like Sissonville which have seen a higher demand for housing.
