January shooting case is headed to a grand jury

A grand jury will consider a case against a man accused in a deadly shooting. 33-year old Joshua Scales of Hyattsville, Maryland is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Ethan Samule Chic-Colbert. The shooting happened on Jan. 26 in Charleston. Scales appeared Friday for his preliminary hearing in Kanawha County Magistrate Court and the judge found probable cause to send the case to a grand jury. Police said the victim had been shot several times while sitting in the driver seat of a car parked in a parking lot in the 400 block of Elizabeth Street. Scales remains in jail without bond as he awaits more court dates.
