Speed reduction is possible along Kanawha Boulevard

Charleston City Council discussed a resolution this week that would reduce the speed limit on the Kanawha Boulevard in Charleston from 40 miles per hour to 30. The boulevard sees not only vehicle traffic, but foot traffic with people running, walking, biking and spending time on the riverfront. Eyewitness News said the speed decrease would come within the next few years if passed, just as the Capitol Connector Project takes shape. The Capitol Connector is still expected to take years to complete. No final decisions have been make about the potential speed limit reduction.
