City crews will be sweeping streets around Charleston this spring, and that will bring changes to parking on Charleston’s East End. With many apartment buildings in the area it can be a challenge to find parking, but residents who don’t move their cars can be hit with a $25 fine. Charleston City Councilmember Emmett Pepper told Eyewitness News that the city acknowledges the issues and has discussed how to make it easier for residents. On Tuesdays the street sweeping for the eastbound side begins at 9 a.m. and westbound is Thursdays at noon, outside of rush times. Street sweeping season runs from April through October.
