There’s a new way to file a police report in Charleston. The Charleston Police Department can now accept online police reports for misdemeanor crimes like petit larceny, vehicle breaking and entering and destruction of property. The police department said this method is suitable for those who don’t have a suspect, evidence or video. Residents can fill out an online form with a quick statement that will be sent to investigators. Anyone experiencing an emergency or crime in real time should call 911. Those who need an officer to respond for a non-emergency can contact Metro Communications at 304-348-8111.
