Drug settlement checks to give cities and counties a boost

West Virginia Attorney General JB McCuskey says his office will be distributing $3.5 million in funding from a settlement in a lawsuit against Pfizer and Ranbaxy. The lawsuit involved the cholesterol drug Lipitor and a cheaper generic version. Pfizer and Ranbaxy are alleged to have delayed the generic drug for 20 months, and the attorney general said that resulted in higher costs for PEIA. The checks being received by West Virginia counties and cities are based on their population size.
