Fraudulent contractor is sentenced for not completing work

A Cabell County man will serve 1-10 years of home confinement for posing as a licensed contractor and never completing home renovation work. Jacob Meadows was sentenced Tuesday to 1-10 years in prison for obtaining money by false pretenses, but a Cabell County Judge Gregory Howard ruled to allow him to serve the sentence on home confinement. Meadows was paid $25,000 for materials to build a deck on a woman’s home in May 2021, but never began the work. Under the home confinement rules, Meadows will be allowed to work, but must pay the victim $1,000 per month until he repays the $18,000 she is still owed. If he misses a payment, the home confinement will be revoked. Eyewitness News said once Meadows’ home confinement sentence is over, he will remain on probation.
