Governor issues letter to couny officials and proved to be incorrect

West Virginia’s governor has issued guidance regarding an executive order allowing exemptions for childhood vaccines after legislatures failed to pass a related bill and a contradicting memo was distributed to county school officials. Early in his tenure, Gov. Patrick Morrisey issued an order directing the Bureau for Public Health to allow religious exemptions for immunizations required for children to attend schools and daycare facilities. Efforts to pass a related bill failed after meeting strong opposition by health officials who cited concerns for the spread of communicable diseases.
