Kanawha County Schools will get new security cameras this summer

An update for security systems in each public school is underway in Kanawha County.
The Verkada system allows footage to be easily shared with emergency response teams in the case of an event. Kanawha County Schools spokesperson Leah Sparks told Eyewitness News that the current security cameras are outdated and no longer taking the updates needed. Each camera in every school will be replaced with the new system, which carries a price tag of $8 million. Installations will happen countywide this summer.
