Several school districts won’t have to make up bad weather days

Cabell County Schools announced calendar changes after the district was provided with a waiver from state education officials following severe winter weather. The waiver exempts Cabell County Schools from the required 180 days of instruction so that students will not be required to make up four days missed for bad weather this year. The final day for students will be on May 28, the rest of the days through June 3 will be for staff development. Cabell was one of eight school systems under a state of emergency due to snow and winter floods. Boone, Calhoun, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mingo and Wyoming counties were also granted waivers from the West Virginia Department of Education.
