Teen taken into custody following a police chase

A Kanawha County deputy was involved in a crash during a pursuit Wednesday just before 2 p.m. Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies saw a vehicle speeding on Route 21 in Sissonville and tried to pull the driver over, but the 17-year-old male refused to stop. The chase extended from Sissonville Drive to Interstate 77 and then back toward Sissonville before deputies lost track of the vehicle. The vehicle was eventually located on Derricks Creek Road where the driver was arrested. During the pursuit, a Kanawha County deputy responding to help was involved in a crash at the intersection of White Oak Drive and Route 21. The deputy and the other driver were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was charged with felony fleeing with reckless indifference. Additional charges are pending.
