The bridge on Woodward Drive in Charleston closed on April 29 , and left residents without many options on how to get out. The main detour sends drivers down Casdorph Road, which has impacted some local business. For the past two weeks some residents said that to skip the detour, they are being charged two dollars a day by a neighbor to use their yard and personal bridge to connect back to the main road. Others worry what would happen if there was an emergency in the neighborhood. If a fire truck and the school busses don’t even run,” there are special needs kids out here and parents have to take their kids to Route 21 to catch the school bus because the school bus cannot run anymore.”
