The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission has named Wayne Ryan as its next executive director, replacing longtime leader David Price.
Ryan has been with the commission since 2016, serving as assistant director for seven years before being promoted to associate executive director in 2023.
Ryan was previously honored as West Virginia Coach of the Year and Athletic Director of the Year. As head coach of the Summers County girls basketball team, he led the program to six state championship appearances, including five straight Class AA titles.
Ryan is set to officially take over as executive director on July 1.
