Last fall, the Kanawha County Board of Education voted 3-to-2 to close East Bank Middle School, despite objections raised at a public hearing. The final day of classes this year marked the end of an era. The school opened in 1969 and closed this year because of declining enrollment and financial concerns impacting the eastern portion of the county. Most students will end up going to DuPont Middle School amid consolidation efforts in the county. Eyewitness News said East Bank Middle will be used as a supply warehouse now.
